Products from Picard stores are now available exclusively on the Deliveroo platform in more than 100 cities in France. Deliveroo customers can already find more than 200 products on the platform.
This partnership follows a period of in-depth testing, with 17 stores in Ile-de-France. These tests enabled Picard and Deliveroo to define radii and delivery times that enable the successful delivery of frozen foods to ensure that Picard products reach the customer at the right freezing temperature. Delivery radii were set so that the average delivery time observed throughout this test period was less than 10 minutes for a Picard order.
During this test phase, the three most ordered products were: tagliatelle with white summer truffles, chicken and small pasta with mushroom sauce, and organic 4 vegetable soup. Peak order time was between 6 and 7 pm.
Before the launch, dedicated joint training between the Deliveroo and Picard teams was carried out for all the stores. They focused on the use of Deliveroo technology, order preparation, respect for the ‘cold chain’ and how to manage periods of high activity.
There is a Picard order for every moment of the day: breakfast, lunch, impromptu aperitif or dinner with friends.
Melvina Sarfati El Grably, Managing Director of Deliveroo France said:
“We are very happy to be able to offer our customers the products of the favourite retail brand of the French, very honoured by the confidence that Picard has placed in us, and proud of the intense work produced jointly by our teams in the build up to this launch.”
Emmanuelle Bach Donnard, Brand, Digital and Customer Experience Director Picard said:
“The national development of this express delivery service is fully in line with Picard's omnichannel strategy, accelerated over the past year with the opening of numerous routes and now open to our ecosystem. A conclusive test phase in terms of customer adoption of our assortment, a true balanced and varied meal solution, and the implementation of a strict protocol to respect the cold chain during delivery, allowed us to consider a lasting partnership with Deliveroo. We are therefore very proud to be able to make our products more and more accessible to the French customers, while responding to new consumer habits.”
On-demand grocery (or on-demand convenience) is a growing segment of Deliveroo's offer, supporting changes in consumption habits. In France, Deliveroo offers groceries delivery from the stores of major brands (groupe Casino, Carrefour), mini markets, but also artisanal food shops, such as bakeries, pastry shops, butchers and wine merchants.
Internationally, this segment represents 7% of the total value of transactions carried out on Deliveroo, and generates very strong synergies with the catering offer available on the platform.
