Carrefour and Deliveroo: new partnership in Belgium with 1,193 products delivered home in less than 30 minutes!

  • Tens of thousands of Deliveroo customers will be able to have Carrefour products delivered to their home in less than 30 minutes, as part of a new partnership designed to give customers a sneak peek of what the future of convenience shopping may look like for Carrefour.
  • This initiative highlights the goal of the Carrefour Group to use new partnerships in addition to its own channels to make it even easier for customers to buy Carrefour products.
  • It’s a first for Deliveroo in Belgium, but an essential new product line that meets growing demand both in Belgium and abroad.
  • This innovative offering suits all needs and all budgets – whether that’s organising an aperitif, preparing a meal, stocking up on last-minute essentials, or picking up sweets, bottles of wine or other food basics.

Brussels, 5 March 2021 - As of this weekend, thousands of households will have the opportunity to have food and drinks delivered from their Carrefour store direct to their doorstep in just 30 minutes, by ordering via the Deliveroo delivery app.

Carrefour will be available via Deliveroo in Brussels from this weekend. By the end of the month, Liège, Antwerp and Ghent are set to follow. If the move proves to be successful, Deliveroo and Carrefour hope to be able to quickly expand the trial to cover other cities before turning their attention to considering other potential larger scale roll-outs across Belgium.

A total of 1,193 products from Carrefour stores will be offered to Deliveroo customers, ranging from ready meals, fruit, vegetables, meat, milk and snacks to cleaning products, as well as beer and other drinks. Besides the standard categories, essential goods for babies or pets will also be available. The emphasis is on product quality, with a wide choice of organic products available, ideal for preparing aperitifs and last-minute meals at home.

Customers will be able to place orders seven days a week until 7:30 p.m.

In addition to home deliveries, there will also be a new click-and-collect service on offer: both practical and fast, the new service allows you to order on the app and collect your groceries in store, 10 minutes later, with no delivery charge. A first in Belgium!

This partnership announcement highlights Carrefour's clear ambition of continuing to develop effective new solutions and giving customers simplified access to its products. The French brand is already a pioneer in this area with delivery via ShipTo or SimplyYouBox meal boxes.

Deliveroo has seen growth and expansion in Belgium in recent months and aims to build on that momentum.

This partnership with Deliveroo is a new opportunity to give our customers a taste of how we see the future of convenience shopping. Being creative and innovative is life-enhancing, and our trial with Deliveroo has enormous potential to give new and existing customers more choice and flexibility to decide when and how they want to shop at Carrefour.

Arnaud Lesne

Deliveroo's services have proven to be crucial, not only in Belgium but in all the countries where we operate, in allowing families to quickly get the meals or groceries they need without even having to leave their homes. This new partnership will put Carrefour's very broad range of products within reach of customers in just 30 minutes. We are delighted to be working with a brand that Belgians appreciate, that keeps innovating and that responds to everyone's demands.
